Resident of Khabarovsk Krai, security guard at a shopping centre. Detained on 5 September 2023, taken into custody on charges of high treason. According to Batsenin's father, when he was detained, they put a phone in his hands and then told him that money had been transferred from this phone to Ukraine. The father also claims that his son was promised that he would be given a small sentence in exchange for his confession, which he agreed to. Batsenin Jr. said in a letter from the pre-trial detention centre that when he was detained, a bag was put over his head, he was beaten, and the phone was rubbed against his hands to leave his fingerprints on it. On 31 May 2024, Batsenin was sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime colony.
Batsenin and his father believe that the statement against him was written by his ex-girlfriend, whom he threatened after she cheated on him. Batsenin was diagnosed with an organic personality disorder.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
