A resident of Ulan-Ude and a student at Buryat State University. On 11 January 2024, he was detained in his dormitory. Criminal proceedings were initiated against him for the public justification of terrorism and high treason. Badmaev was taken into custody. According to him, he disseminated information on social media regarding recruitment for the Freedom of Russia Legion; he also transferred 500 rubles to an account he believed belonged to the Ukrainian project "I Want to Live" and attempted to transfer a large sum to the Russian Volunteer Corps. Additionally, he posted numerous comments supporting Ukraine and apologizing to Ukrainians on behalf of the Buryat people. On 29 January 2025, he was sentenced to seven years in a maximum-security penal colony. On 13 May 2025, the court of appeal increased his sentence to 14 years. On 13 November 2025, the day Badmaev was scheduled to begin a long-term visit with his parents, he was instead placed in a punishment cell (SHIZO).
