He is a resident of St. Petersburg, a machine operator at a plant producing reinforced concrete products. In February 2023, he was taken into custody on charges of damaging property by setting fire to a Rosgvardiya warehouse and traffic police cars, as well as attempting to set fire to Interior Ministry cars. The Telegram channel “VChK-OGPU” reports that during the investigation Baranov claimed that he was guided by his anti-war stance during the arson attacks.
No later than March 2023, Baranov’s charge was reclassified to committing a terrorist act. He was later reported to have also been charged with manufacturing explosives, participating in a terrorist community and treason. On 10 October 2024, he was sentenced to 18 years in a strict regime colony.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
