Resident of Norilsk. The investigation considers the young man to be "an adherent of radical Ukrainian nationalism" who shares "the main ideas of the extremist Ukrainian organisation Right Sector". In May 2022, he was taken into custody on charges of desecrating symbols of military glory because of a video calling for burning St George's ribbons.
In August 2022, it became known that Chumak was also prosecuted for public justification of terrorism. He is charged with publishing "videos with calls for actions of a terrorist nature <...> during the Victory Day celebrations." The young man pleaded guilty. Then he was also charged with participation in the activities of an extremist organisation - apparently because of the alleged connection with the Right Sector. On 28 March 2023, Chumak was sentenced; the details are unknown.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
