Technician of the neutron physicochemical research laboratory of the Kurchatov Institute in Gatchina. On 5 April 2024, he was taken into custody in a case of spreading deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces due to dozens of comments and publications about the war, including a Deutsche Welle video titled "Attack on Pavlograd, how Putin is preparing for a defensive war and undermining the combat capability of the Russian Army". He later said that he had been forced to kneel for two hours during a search in his work office and was not allowed to wear street trousers before a meeting to elect a preventive measure. On 22 November 2024, it became known that Bohmut was not receiving medical care in the pre-trial detention centre.

On 30 January 2026, the court sentenced him to seven years in a general regime colony.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
