Lawyer, President of the Udmurtia Bar Association. He is one of the defence lawyers for journalist Ivan Safronov, who is accused of high treason.
He was detained on 28 June 2022 in Izhevsk on suspicion of disseminating knowingly false information about the Russian army, motivated by hatred or enmity, and was transported to Moscow. The following day, a court ruled to remand him in custody. Subsequently, a separate case was initiated against him for inciting hatred towards the social groups "representatives of state authorities and government bodies of the Russian Federation" and "supporters of the President of Russia from among lawyers who endorse the conduct of the special military operation." In July, lawyer Daniil Berman reported that no bed space was available for Talantov in the pre-trial detention centre. In December, the case was transferred to the Zavyalovsky District Court of Udmurtia.
Talantov suffers from hypertension; upon admission to the pre-trial detention centre, his blood pressure was recorded at 220/120.
On 28 November 2024, the lawyer was sentenced to seven years in a general regime penal colony.
On 31 October 2025, an appellate court reduced his sentence by two months.
