Resident of St. Petersburg. Detained on 6 April 2017. Later he said that during the search he was beaten, shown a bat and a dagger, and demanded to incriminate the other defendants in the case, Mukhamadyusup and Ibragimzhon Ermatov. He was taken into custody on charges of involvement in the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro on 3 April 2017, as human rights activists believe, without grounds. He was first held in a pre-trial detention centre in St. Petersburg, then transferred to Moscow, and in April 2019 he, like the other defendants, was taken to St. Petersburg.

On 10 December 2019, he was sentenced to 20 years in a strict regime colony. On 6 August 2021, the court of appeal reduced the sentence by a month.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
