A resident of Chechnya. On 13 August 2001 he was detained during a mop-up operation in a village. According to the project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial", a local policeman Supyan Tazuev, who had previously demanded a large sum of money from Timerbulatov in connection with the mitigation of the preventive measure for Timerbulatov's brother Ali, in whose yard shell casings were found, learned about the detention. Tazuev together with other law enforcers tortured Timerbulatov. In addition, they beat his relatives who came to bring the handover to the police station. Thus they forced Timerbulatov to confess to committing a terrorist act. A case was opened against him on terrorist act, possession and manufacture of weapons, attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer, killing people in connection with their official activities, intentional harm to people's health, damage to property by explosion. On 18 May 2004, Timerbulatov was sentenced to life imprisonment.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
