Resident of Kansk (Krasnoyarsk region), at the start of the prosecution he was a minor. He was detained in June 2020 and shortly after, together with Denis Mikhaylenko, he put up leaflets in the city in support of Azat Miftakhov and those convicted in the “Network case.” On 10 June, Uvarov was taken into custody in a case on undergoing training for the purpose of committing terrorist acts. In November, a case of participation in the activities of a terrorist community was opened. As one piece of evidence, the investigation used correspondence about the explosion of the FSB building in the computer game Minecraft, but these circumstances were not included in the indictment. In March 2021, the charge of participation in the activities of a terrorist community was dropped. On 4 May Uvarov was released. On 10 February 2022, he was sentenced to five years in a general regime colony.

In October 2023, Uvarov was transferred from an educational colony to a general regime colony until he turned 19.

In February 2026, it became known that a new case was opened against Uvarov for participation in the activities of an extremist organisation, namely the AUE movement. According to Novaya Gazeta, criminal subculture was alien to Nikita Uvarov both on the outside and in prison, and penal colony 31, where he served his sentence, is so-called "red" - meaning it has no prison hierarchy and traditions.

The propaganda TV channel REN TV published a video in which a prisoner, identified as Uvarov's cellmate, describes the latter's alleged adherence to the ideas of some illegal groups that organise sabotage — which, by the description, does not really resemble the AUE subculture. According to him, "the convicted Nikita Uvarov told other convicts how he went against the security services and the authorities when he was 14 years old. He told them that it was necessary to create groups... some legal groups, others - illegal. The legal ones would put up leaflets and so on... and the illegal ones would organise all sorts of sabotage, well, to go against the authorities... Uvarov talked about Stepan Bandera, he was fascinated by how he prepared himself for torture, drove nails under his fingernails, so that when the security services interrogated him, he would not be able to reveal anything. Not only has he not reformed, he has become worse towards the authorities, and towards everything else, embittered towards everyone. ...When he gets out, I think he will commit even more terrorist-related offences, extremist offences."

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
