On 11 August 2022, a search was carried out at Aliev’s home. He was taken into custody on charges of organising activities of a terrorist organisation and preparing for the violent seizure of power in connection with involvement in the activities of the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir. On November 26, 2025, Aliyev was sentenced to 15 years in a strict regime colony.
