She is a citizen of Bulgaria and resident of the Volgograd region. Georgieva was charged with justification of terrorism for the comments she posted in March and November 2024 under a post about the activities of the Russian Volunteer Corps, which fights on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The content of Georgieva’s comments is unknown. On 9 September 2025, the court sentenced her to three years in a general regime penal colony.

It is unknown when exactly the criminal case was initiated against Georgieva, but in December 2024 she was subjected to “carousel arrests”: she was arrested twice in a row in administrative cases of disobedience to the police and petty hooliganism. On 9 December, she was arrested for 13 days under the first article; on 21 December, she was arrested for another 10 days under the second one.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
