A resident of Usolye-Sibirskoye (Irkutsk Region), Konovalov faced charges of publicly justifying terrorism and inciting activities against the security of the Russian Federation. This was, in particular, due to his posts in support of the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of Russia Legion. In November 2024, the case went to trial. On 22 April 2025, Konovalov was sentenced to seven years in a general regime penal colony.
