Born in Dagestan, he worked as a crane operator in Moscow.

Detained on 7 May 2014 and taken into custody. Initially the case was opened under the article on illegal possession of explosives, in June the charge of preparation to commit a terrorist act was added. Huseykhanov was testified to by his flatmates, who were also initially taken into custody, but were later sentenced to six months' imprisonment and released due to time served. Huseykhanov requested a confrontation with them, but the investigation refused. During interrogation, he claimed that the explosives had been planted in their flat.

In June 2015, another case was opened against Huseykhanov for illegal possession of explosives. The cases were merged. The case includes testimony from secret witnesses who allegedly sat in the same cell with Huseykhanov and heard from him that he was a Wahhabi, that all the defendants in the case supported illegal armed groups and were going to commit a terrorist act to avenge their murdered associates.

Human rights activists consider the case to be falsified and regard it as part of a campaign to pressure Muslims.

On 10 March 2016, Huseykhanov was sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime colony.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
