A resident of Shuya, Ivanovo Oblast. He was detained on 19 March 2022 in connection with an arson attack on a military recruitment centre. During a search, officers seized a poster reading: "No to Russia’s war against Ukraine!!"
The case was initially opened on charges of attempted damage or destruction of property, but was later reclassified as a terrorist attack. In late June, it became known that Liamin had been transferred to Moscow — apparently for a psychiatric assessment at the Serbsky National Medical Research Centre for Psychiatry and Narcology. For unknown reasons, he refused his privately hired lawyer; human rights defender Ivan Astashin believes Liamin was pressured.

On 12 April 2023, Liamin was sentenced to eight years in prison and assigned compulsory psychiatric treatment at the place of detention.

In May, he lost both of his parents.

In February 2026, it became known that a new criminal case had been opened against him. He is accused of involving others in terrorist activity. The investigation claims that he persuaded another prisoner to join the Freedom of Russia Legion and the Russian Volunteer Corps.

According to Liamin, the case file includes five audio recordings of his conversations with other inmates. He says they approached him themselves and spoke about wanting to join the units.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
