A resident of Kherson region of Ukraine, and a former employee of Kherson customs. He was detained on 28 July 2022 after he handed over money to another person prosecuted in the case, Konstantin Reznik. According to him, he believed that the money was intended for the purchase of food and medicines as social assistance. He was placed in a certain basement, where he was tortured and threatened that his family would be persecuted, after which he agreed to sign a confession. He was officially detained in the criminal case on 6 October 2022. At the trial, Tavozhnianskii noted that, according to the case file, the acts he allegedly committed took place when he was in the basement. It was also claimed that, from March 2022, he had undertaken, on behalf of the Security Service of Ukraine, to monitor employees of the military-civilian administration of Kherson Oblast, even though such an administration did not exist at that time. Tavozhnianskii was charged with participation in the activities of a terrorist community and preparation and attempt to commit acts of international terrorism. On 30 January 2026, he was sentenced to 18 years in a strict regime colony.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
