A resident of Kansk (Krasnoyarsk Krai), Uvarov was a minor when the prosecution began. He was detained in June 2020 shortly after he, together with Denis Mikhailenko, put up leaflets in the city in support of Azat Miftakhov and those convicted in the "Network" case. On 10 June, Uvarov was taken into custody on charges of undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. One piece of evidence cited by the investigators was a conversation about blowing up an FSB building - conducted within the computer game Minecraft. However, this was not included in the final indictment. In March 2021, the charge of participation in the activities of a terrorist community was dropped. On 4 May, Uvarov was released. On 10 February 2022, he was sentenced to 5 years in a general regime penal colony.

In October 2023, Uvarov was transferred from a juvenile detention centre to a general regime penal colony, where he was to remain until his 19th birthday.

How to write the letter?

Getting started
What can I write about?
On censorship: what can’t I write?
Is it allowed to send photographs?
What language do I use in my letter?
What are the limits on sending letters?
Should I expect a reply and do I have to respond?
How do I maintain the correspondence?
I would like to send letters by myself, how do I do it?
How else can I support Russian dissidents?
It says that the prisoner I was assigned was tried for terrorism, or extremism or something else scary, what’s up with that?
