A Crimean Solidarity activist. On 27 March 2019, he was detained after a search and the next day taken into custody on charges of participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation. Sent to a pre-trial detention centre in Rostov region. In March 2020, it became known that Sheikhaliyev was also accused of preparing to overthrow the constitutional order.
On 24 November 2022, he was sentenced to 14 years in a strict regime colony.
On 16 January 2024, before the appeal hearing, Sheikhaliyev suffered a severe nosebleed: in the morning in the cell of the pre-trial detention centre, the bleeding stopped only after an injection from a paramedic, while in the cell for video link the bleeding lasted for more than 20 minutes. Three days before the hearing, Sheikhaliyev complained of headaches, for which painkillers did not help, and that he was denied an ECG.
He has chronic pyelonephritis, right kidney prolapse, varicose veins on his legs, and is also concerned about his teeth.
